Pilates Instructor. Yoga Instructor. Reiki Practitioner.
Pilates Mat Certified 2017
Pilates Equipment Certification 2018
Monica Mordaunt experienced Pilates throughout her years of dance training, yet never fully connected with the movement practice until she took classes at Kinected in New York City while working as a front desk administrator. The focus on anatomy and breath, combined with the movement principles of the Kane School of Core Integration were the long awaited answers to her chronic overuse injuries and instability. Monica began her journey of becoming a certified Pilates Mat instructor in March of 2017 and completed the full equipment training in Summer 2018. She completed the Residency Program at Kinected and is a teacher trainer for Kane School Mat and Equipment certifications. Her goal is to share movement with all bodies and help them connect with a personal practice for moving everyday.
Teaching Specialties: Injury recovery, therapeutic focused, movers of all abilities
Monica Mordaunt began practicing yoga as a way to heal injuries and mindfully move through life. She received her RYT-200hr hatha flow training through Cloud Nine Yoga in Orange, California after receiving her undergraduate degree in dance performance. Her teaching practice is influenced by her professional dance career as well as her anatomy and somatic studies. Classes focus on breath, mindfulness, and moving through asanas with ease. Outside of yoga, Monica is an administrator, performer, health nut, and avid adventure seeker.
Yoga Teaching Philosophy
I believe in beginning each practice with identifying a personal intention, letting it resonate through breathing exercises, then working through the asanas to allow a mindfully aware state to emerge before reaching savasana. Proprioception, sensation and individual connection along with anatomical awareness are essential in my teaching methods. This is to provide knowledge of injury prevention and healthy movement in everyday life. Reiki energy healing is another focus and comes into my teaching through physical adjustments as well as through the guidance of breath and visualization. I seek to guide students on their own path of a balanced connection between the mind, body, and breath.
Class Specialties: Hatha Flow, Alignment Based Flow, Restorative, Meditation and Reiki
